Choosing the right tub chair can be a crucial decision if you want the best quality for the right price. There are hundreds of designs and styles available at a wide variety of prices. You need to make sure you are getting the best value for your money. The following tips should help you determine which chair is best for you.

The first thing you need to do is check the quality of the tub chair. This can be done by simply sitting in it. You should immediately feel comfortable and supported. The foam cushions and the springs in the base are what provide the comfort. The cushion should always retain its natural position when you get out of the chair. If you find it is slow to recover then the foam may be of poor quality. If you are in a furniture store then you can easily test for this. Try bouncing up and down slightly on the seat. If you hear any funny noises, or squeaks then this is a sign of inferior springs at work.

On the bottom of the chair you should find the label. This little label contains a lot of information, such as the country of origin, the manufacturer and the materials used. Tub chairs made in the Far East are typically mass produced in a large factory. They are also made from cheaper materials and this affects the overall quality and durability. Those made in Western countries tend to be much better, and are usually hand crafted from much better materials. This is reflected in the price you pay. The Far East imports may look the part, but underneath us where the real problems are found.

You can test the actual joints of the chair by kneeling on the seat and grabbing the arm rests. Try gently pushing the arm rests in different directions. You can also push the back rest forwards and backwards. If you notice a lot of movement or hear any noises then the joints are of a poor quality, or the glue has not been applied properly or adequately between these joints. If the joints are unstable then the comfort will be compromised. These are simple checks that can be done in just a few minutes, but could save you a lot of cash.
