We are Wichita painters, so we pick out paint for our customers every day. But I know the process can be hard. It would be like me trying to pick out the right kind of driver for a golfer. There are a ton of selections out there and there are a bunch of different price points. But unless you are an expert you probably have no idea if you are getting what you are paying for. Same goes with paint.

So, today, I’m going to give you some information on picking out exterior paint for your Wichita home. Now, this advice is going to be pretty general, and it’s going to be general on purpose. I don’t want you running out there buying some paint for your house because I recommended it and if you aren’t happy with it cussing me. These are just some things to think about when picking out paint for your house.

First things first, and this is a universal rule. If you go out and buy the cheapest stuff you can find you are going to get what you pay for. There is a reason it’s cheaper than all the others, and there’s a reason there’s a lot of it on the shelf. No self-respecting Wichita painter I know would ever go out and buy the cheapest thing he could find. It simply isn’t going to be a good product.

Second, if you don’t know what you’re doing, don’t just guess. Ask someone. And don’t just ask Google (thought that’s a decent place to start to find out generally about exterior house paint). Go to the hardware store in your neighborhood and ask the people working there what they recommend. They’ll be able to suggest products that fit your house style, your geographical area, and your price point.

In the end, picking a paint color for your exterior paint job isn’t terribly difficult. But it can go bad if you go cheap and you don’t do a little bit of research. So, take a little extra time and get out there and find the right paint for your Wichita home!
